policies of the Government.

Oral notice having been given, Hon. Mr. Nixon to propose the following motion:
Be it resolved that the Legislative Assembly
(a) recognize that the criminal use of firearms primarily involves
unlicensed individuals, often using illegally smuggled firearms;
(b) express its opposition to the Government of Canada’s recent decision
to amend regulations to the Criminal Code to prohibit the possession,
transportation and sale of certain types of legally-acquired firearms by
licensed, law-abiding citizens; and
(c) urge the Government of Alberta to take all necessary steps to assert
provincial jurisdiction in connection with these matters, including
replacing the Chief Firearms Officer having jurisdiction for Alberta as
designated by the federal Minister of Public Safety and Emergency
Preparedness with a chief firearms officer for Alberta designated by
the Government of Alberta in accordance with the Firearms Act
(Canada).

Be it resolved that the Legislative Assembly urge the Government to identify
and eliminate barriers to the development of intellectual property created at
post-secondary institutions, teaching hospitals, and laboratories in order to
attract investment, encourage innovation, and ensure these entities have a fair
opportunity to share in the profit generated from research conducted at their
facilities.

Mr. Carson to propose the following motion:
Be it resolved that the Legislative Assembly urge the Government to take
measures to better regulate the automobile insurance system in Alberta
including, but not limited to, the establishment of reasonable rate caps, to
prevent further undue financial hardship for Albertans.

Mr. Loewen to propose the following motion:
Be it resolved that the Legislative Assembly urge the Minister of Justice and
Solicitor General to explore options to establish a voluntary civilian corps to
assist law enforcement in Alberta.

Mr. Ellis to propose the following motion:
Be it resolved that the Legislative Assembly urge the Government to encourage
more effective communication and collaboration between police services
operating in Alberta for the purposes of identifying criminal operations,
reducing incidence of crime, and creating safer communities for all Albertans.

Mr. Shepherd to propose the following motion:
Be it resolved that the Legislative Assembly urge the Government to partner
with municipalities across Alberta to invest in the supportive housing required
to end chronic homelessness in all communities.

Mr. Nielsen to propose the following motion:
Be it resolved that the Legislative Assembly urge the Government to introduce
a Bill to expressly ban unpaid internships in order to support youth employment,
strengthen fair pay, and improve labour standards and working conditions in
Alberta.

Mr. Turton to propose the following motion:
Be it resolved that the Legislative Assembly urge the Government to examine
the feasibility of implementing measures such as extended producer liability that
balance the environmental and economic needs of Albertans.
